Rat dissection

Last lab earlier today.. here are some pictures that won't gross you all out hopefully lol.. sorry I haven't had the time (nor the finances =P) to go develop those countless film photos taken of NZ's really picturesque scenery.. promise when i return to s'pore in dec i'll put those up hehe

The rat before dissection..male rat

First stage of dissection..examination of the ailmentary system, notice the intestines and the fatty mesenteries hanging out of the gut cavity ..this was one FAT rat

Next stage of dissection.. to examine the cardiovascular system.. ribs and sternum have been cut off.. carefully cutting away the membrane around the thoracic cavity

The final masterpiece..welll not all that final .. had to slice through globs of fat to get to the posterior vena cava and aorta...this rat apparently was abit on the obese side lol..notice also that I've more or less elucidated the reproductive system aka uriniogenital region of the rat.. that translucent ballooney thing you see near the anterior is actually the rat's FULL bladder.. heng didn't burst it accidentally lol..and we literally had to PULL the testes out of the scrotal sacs...
